The parade of ships marks the official beginning of the 25th Fleet Week in NYC. If you weren’t along the Hudson River this morning to see it, I’ve posted these pictures. Battleships should start their trip up the Hudson shortly so more pics to come. Enjoy!

I know its a bit silly, but a Salzburg Must See is the Hallein salt mines. You put on a mining outfit and take a little train into the mine. There is a bit of walking, and some movies that are hilariously bad, but it’s a fun trip that takes about 75 minutes. The slides are also very fun!
HOHENSALZBURG FORTRESS:
we toured this on May 18, 2011. The weather was beautiful. The first fortress was on the same location by Prince Archbishop Eberhard in 1077. The fortress continued to grow until Prince Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach changed the purpose of the building so that it represented the power and wealth of the Prince Archbishop. The “white gold”, as it was referred to, was salt from the Hallein mine, and it contributed to the massive revenue of Salzburg.

I just returned from a quick trip to Salzburg Austria. We stayed at the gorgeous Schloss Fuschl Resort in the Fuschlsee-Salzburg area just past the town of Hof. If you get the chance to go to Salzburg, I highly recommend this hotel. The views are breathtaking, the food is spectacular. There is a fishery on the property so do try the char and trout.
